Abstract
This study presents the design and comparative of optical ring resonators (ORRs) based on single-mode hybrid optical waveguides, specifically Strip Loaded Optical Waveguides (SOW) and Channel Optical Waveguides (COW). Using Al2O3 thin films synthesized by atomic layer deposition (ALD), we evaluate key parameters such as effective mode index, single-mode operation range, and evanescent wave characteristics. Compared to COW, the results show that SOW configurations provide better optical performance and improved coupling efficiency. Transmission spectra analysis of the all-pass optical ring resonator (AOR) demonstrates SOW's enhanced filtering performance, confirming its suitability for cost-effective, high-performance photonic devices.
